The 12 Months Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program at Asian International University (AIU) provides foundational education and practical training for individuals interested in emergency medical services and pre-hospital patient care.
The program introduces students to human anatomy and physiology, emergency medical terminology, patient assessment, first aid, basic life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures. Students learn how to assess patients and provide appropriate basic assistance while awaiting or supporting professional medical care.
The course covers common medical and traumatic emergencies, including injuries, bleeding, fractures, burns, shock, breathing difficulties, unconsciousness, and other urgent situations. Students also learn about safe patient handling, positioning, basic airway support, infection prevention, emergency equipment, and safe transportation of patients.
Ambulance operations and pre-hospital care form an important part of the program. Students are introduced to procedures involved in preparing emergency equipment, assisting with patient transportation, maintaining safety during transit, and communicating relevant patient information to healthcare professionals.
The program also introduces disaster management, mass casualty incidents, emergency preparedness, and professional ethics. Practical training and internship exposure help students develop essential skills for responding calmly and responsibly in emergency situations under appropriate supervision.
After successful completion, graduates may explore entry-level opportunities as Emergency Medical Technicians, Emergency Care Assistants, Ambulance Assistants, Patient Transport Assistants, Emergency Medical Service Support Staff, and Healthcare Emergency Assistants, subject to applicable employer, licensing, certification, and regulatory requirements.
